Slip Leads
If you’re looking for the perfect blend of convenience, control, and durability, you’ve found it. A slip lead is an all-in-one collar and leash designed for effortless transitions. Instead of fumbling with clips and D-rings, the lead simply loops over your dog's head, creating a secure, custom-fit connection instantly.
Why Choose Our Rope & Braided Leads?
Not all leads are created equal. We specialise in rope and braided designs because they are high quality and super tough.
-
Built to Last: Our hand spliced rope and bar-tacked braided leads are designed to withstand the elements.
-
Soft on Hands: Unlike flat nylon which can cause "leash burn," our rounded leads provide a comfortable, ergonomic grip for the handler.
-
Lightweight & Flexible: Easy to fold up and tuck into a pocket once your dog is off-leash.
- We have recently added double stop slip leads to our product range. These offer the control benefits of a slip lead without the worry that the slip will close too tight around your dog's neck.
How to Use Slip Leads
1. The "P" Shape
When looking at your dog from the front, the lead should form the letter "P" as you slide it over their head. This ensures that when your dog stops pulling, the tension releases immediately, keeping them comfortable.
2. High and Snug
For the most control and the safest walk, position the loop high on the neck, just behind the ears. This keeps the pressure away from the sensitive windpipe and prevents the lead from sliding down to the shoulders.
Use the integrated leather or rubber stopper on our leads to keep the loop from getting too loose. It should be snug enough that the lead won't slip over their ears, but loose enough to fall slack when they're walking nicely by your side.
Is a Slip Lead Right for Your Dog?
Slip leads are the "gold standard" for:
-
Daily Walks: Quick on, quick off.
-
Training: Providing clear, immediate feedback.
-
Agility & Sport: Perfect for dogs who need to be "naked" during their run but leashed immediately after.
Note: Slip leads are intended for active walking and training. They should never be used on a tie-out or left on an unattended dog.
